APMIP (Andhra Pradesh Micro Irrigation Project) is a special method of irrigation in which water and fertilizer are saved. In this method, water is dripped drop-by-drop at the roots of the plants. For this purpose, a network of valves, pipes, tubes, and emitters has to be installed. It is also called ‘drip irrigation. Droplet irrigation is an irrigation method in which water is transported to the roots of plants directly by plastic drains at short intervals.
Traditional surface irrigation does not lead to proper use of water, as much of the water, that the plants must receive, goes to waste by either seeping into the ground or evaporation. Therefore, for the correct and full use of available water, an irrigation system is necessary through which water leakage is minimized and maximum water is available to the plant.
