Types Of Ration Card
There are four types of ration cards in Meghalaya, which are as follows –
- BPL Ration Card => BPL Ration Card is issued for those families of the state who are living below the poverty line. The annual income of BPL families should not exceed 10000. Through this ration card, people of the state can buy food grains up to 25 kg at affordable rates in the ration shop.
- APL Ration Card => APL Ration Card has been issued for those families of the state who are living above the poverty line. APL ration is provided to these families of the state by the state government. Through these APL rations, people of the state can get grains up to 15 kg per month from the ration shop at subsidized rates.
- Antyodaya Anna Ration Card => The Scheme has been implemented in Meghalaya with effect from November 2001 as per guidelines of the Government of India. It covers the poorest families in the State and 35 Kg of rice is supplied per month at the price of Rs. 3.00 per Kg to each identified poorest family.
- Annapurna Ration Card => Since January 2002, Annapurna has been implemented in Meghalaya. Under the Scheme, rice is distributed free of cost at the scale of 10 Kgs per month to each indigent Old Age Person not covered under the National Old Age Pension Scheme. The Scheme is implemented by the Deputy Commissioners/Sub – Divisional Officers at the District / Sub – Divisional Level.
Procedure to apply for Meghalaya Ration Card
